<statement>Die Datenbasis liefert die Hydrogeologische Karte von Österreich 1:500000, erstellt im Jahr 2003 (Schubert et al.). Die hydrogeologischen und wasserwirtschaftlichen Inhalte sind das Ergebnis umfangreicher Literaturrecherchen. Ziel war es, eine damals aktuelle und leicht verständliche Übersicht zu den hydrogeologischen Verhältnissen in Österreich zu vermitteln. Wie es bei dem Versuch zur Darstellung komplexer Verhältnisse häufig der Fall ist, können auch hier die lokalen Gegebenheiten von der vereinfachten Darstellung im Datensatz abweichen.
