<idAbs>&lt;div style='text-align:Left;'&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;font size='4'&gt;&lt;b&gt;Geomagnetic Survey&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The geomagnetic survey focuses on recording slow spatial and temporal variations in the Earth's magnetic field, which are generated by geodynamic processes in the Earth's interior.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The spatial dependence reflects the distribution of magnetic field sources: in the Earth's core, in the Earth's crust, and in the higher layers of the atmosphere. A distinction is made between slowly varying sources, which are responsible for the so-called secular variation, and rapidly varying sources. The latter originate from the interaction between the Earth's magnetic field and the solar wind. The survey focuses on local differences in the slowly varying components of the Earth's magnetic field.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Since the mid-19th century, measurement campaigns with over 300 measuring points have been conducted in Austria at intervals of approximately 30 years. In addition, measurements are conducted annually at a few locations evenly distributed throughout Austria to update the survey. Together with continuous recordings of the Earth's magnetic field at the Conrad Observatory, these measurements provide precise information about the direction and strength of the Earth's magnetic field at any point and time in Austria, as well as a forecast of expected changes for the coming year. The data obtained form the basis for geomagnetic maps and provide an important reference for navigation. Together with similar data obtained worldwide, they represent an important basis for geophysical studies and for understanding dynamic processes in the Earth's core that are responsible for generating the Earth's magnetic field.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;font size='4'&gt;Description of the map layers&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Isolines of magnetic declination in degrees/minutes 2025 and 2026&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;span style='font-size:medium;'&gt;The map shows isogons, i.e., lines with the same magnetic declination deviations, defined as the difference between the orientation of the compass needle and true north. Local magnetic declination changes slowly over time and must be taken into account in magnetic navigation systems. GeoSphere Austria conducts annual measurements in Austria to record the direction and strength of the Earth's magnetic field with the highest precision.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Secular Measurement Points&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;span style='font-size:medium;'&gt;Secular points are carefully selected locations, far from local sources of disturbance, where the direction and intensity of the Earth's magnetic field are precisely recorded. There are currently 14 secular points in Austria that are measured annually. The measured values ​​are reduced to a common point in time using continuous recordings at the Conrad Observatory and combined with another 300 points from the most recent national magnetic survey to geographically represent the parameters of the Earth's magnetic field. This provides information about the local structure of secular variations. Recording the spatial and temporal changes in the Earth's magnetic field is one of the main tasks of the GeoSphere Austria Magnetic Service.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;font size='3'&gt;Magnetic secular point surveys are important for recording and understanding the constant changes in the Earth's magnetic field. The Earth's magnetic field is subject to natural fluctuations and changes that can affect navigation systems, communications systems, and other technological applications over time.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;By regularly measuring the Earth's magnetic field at various time and space scales, scientists can create models of the dynamic processes responsible for maintaining a magnetic field in the Earth's core. The Earth's magnetic field plays an important role in the long-term protection of the atmosphere and life against the solar wind. This also applies to infrastructure such as power distribution grids, satellites, and radio communications.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Measurement Procedure&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style='font-size:medium;'&gt;The measurements are carried out according to international guidelines of the &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href='https://iaga-aiga.org/' target='_blank'&gt;IAGA (International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy)&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style='font-size:medium;'&gt;. Dabei unterscheidet man zwischen langsam veränderlichen Quellen, die für die so genannte Säkularvariation verantwortlich sind, und schnell veränderlichen Quellen. Letztere stammen aus der Wechselwirkung zwischen Erdmagnetfeld und Sonnenwind. Die Landesaufnahme befasst sich mit örtlichen Unterschieden der langsam variierenden Komponenten des Erdmagnetfeldes.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Seit Mitte des 19. Jahrhundert werden in Österreich in Zeitabständen von etwa 30 Jahren Messkampagnen mit über 300 Messpunkten durchgeführt. Darüber hinaus werden jährlich Messungen an wenigen über ganz Österreich gleichmäßig verteilten Standorten durchgeführt, um die Landesaufnahme zu aktualisieren. Zusammen mit kontinuierlichen Registrierungen des Erdmagnetfelds am Conrad Observatorium ergeben diese Messungen genaue Informationen über die Richtung und Stärke des Erdmagnetfeldes an beliebigen Punkten und Zeiten in Österreich, so wie eine Prognose der zu erwartenden Änderungen für das kommende Jahr. Die gewonnenen Daten sind die Grundlage für geomagnetische Karten und bieten eine wichtige Referenz für die Navigation. Zusammen mit ähnlich gewonnenen Daten weltweit stellen sie eine wichtige Grundlage für geophysikalische Studien und für das Verständnis dynamischer Prozesse im Erdkern dar, die für die Erzeugung des Erdmagnetfeldes verantwortlich sind.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;font size='4'&gt;&lt;b&gt;Beschreibung der Layer der Karte&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Isolinien der Deklination in Grad/Minuten 2025 und 2026&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Die Karte zeigt Isogonen, d.h. Die lokale magnetische Deklination verändert sich langsam mit der Zeit und muss bei magnetischen Navigationssysteme berücksichtigt werden. Die GeoSphere Austria führt jährliche Messungen in Österreich durch, um Richtung und Stärke des Erdmagnetfeldes höchstgenau zu erfassen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Säkularmesspunkte&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Säkularpunkte sind sorgfältig ausgewählte Standorte, weit entfernt von lokalen Störquellen, wo Richtung und Intensität des Erdmagnetfeldes genau erfasst werden. Es gibt in Österreich derzeit 14 Säkularpunkte, welche jährlich gemessen werden. Die Messwerte werden anhand von kontinuierlichen Aufzeichnungen am Conrad Observatorium auf einem gemeinsamen Zeitpunkt reduziert, und mit weiteren ~300 Punkten der letzten magnetischen Landesaufnahme kombiniert, um die Parameter des Erdmagnetfeldes geographisch darzustellen. Damit erhält man Informationen über die örtliche Struktur der Säkularvariationen. Die Erfassung der örtlichen und zeitlichen Änderungen des Erdmagnetfeldes ist eine der Hauptaufgaben des Magnetischen Dienstes der GeoSphere Austria.&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Die magnetische Säkularpunkt-Vermessung ist wichtig, um die ständigen Veränderungen im Erdmagnetfeld zu erfassen und zu verstehen. Das Erdmagnetfeld unterliegt natürlichen Schwankungen und Veränderungen, die sich im Laufe der Zeit auf die Navigationssysteme, Kommunikationssysteme und andere technologische Anwendungen auswirken können.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Durch die regelmäßigen Messungen des Erdmagnetfeldes auf verschiedenen Zeit- und Raumskalen können Wissenschaftler Modelle über die dynamischen Prozessen erstellen, die im Erdkern für die Aufrechterhaltung eines Magnetfeldes verantwortlich sind. Das Erdmagnetfeld spielt eine wichtige Rolle beim langfristigem Schutz der Atmosphäre und des Lebens gegen den Sonnenwind. Die Messungen erfolgten selbst unter erschwerten Bedingungen, z. B. während des Revolutionsjahres 1848. Daraus entstand die erste magnetische Deklinationskarte Österreichs (siehe unten).&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Seit der ersten Landesaufnahme von 1850 hat sich die magnetische Deklination um etwa 20° verändert. Über die gleiche Zeitspanne hat das Dipolmoment des Erdmagnetfeldes um 10% abgenommen.
